To understand interspecific interactions in plant-associated microbial communities, transcriptome analyses of the epiphytic bacterial community of the duckweed Lemna minor will be conducted. This project will include two sequencing experiments: (1) draft genome sequences of several bacterial isolates from the duckweed; and (2) mRNA-seq of environmental bacterial communities and selected bacterial isolates attached on the duckweed surface.
